A Pocket Diaper is a diaper which features a waterproof shell with an interior ‘sleeve’. By itself the pocket is not absorbent. The sleeve is designed to be ‘stuffed’ with absorbent inserts. Absorbent inserts go into the pocket and draw moisture away from baby’s bottom. Add inserts to increase absorbency. Usually elasticized and fasten with snaps or Velcro. Can be sized or one-size. Insert and diaper are separated and washed after one use. The advantage of diapering this way is the versatility of customizing your absorbency and the convenience of All In One diapering if the diaper is pre-stuffed and set up to go.
Preparing Pocket Diapers
Pocket Diapers should be washed once before use. Wash separately from cotton prefolds or other natural materials if prepping them for use. The natural oils in that are removed from cotton, bamboo or hemp can interfere with the absorbency of the pocket diaper.
